APAP believes that pay transparency is a critical step toward pay equity and benefits both the job seeker and the employer. For those reasons, we are now requiring that employers include a salary range in all new job postings.
Postings that are backfilled from another association’s career center may not include salary information.

La Lumiere School is excited to welcome applications for the position of English Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Our English teachers teach students to read critically, write clearly, speak effectively, and participate thoughtfully in a literary and intellectual community. Students encounter powerful texts from classic and contemporary writers, write often both to discover and to present discoveries, and engage in discussion, reflection, analysis, and public expression.
For this position, we are seeking a teacher who is comfortable working with upper-level high school students in literature, writing, and speaking-centered courses. The likely teaching assignment will include Speech, AP English Literature and Composition, and junior/senior English seminar courses. Prior experience with theater, public speaking, performance, debate, or other forms of student presentation would be a plus.
The ideal candidate will bring strong classroom presence, a love of literature and language, and the ability to help students develop confidence as readers, writers, speakers, and thinkers. We are especially interested in candidates who can create a discussion-rich classroom, guide students through close reading and analytical writing, and help students develop voice, poise, and clarity in both written and spoken expression.
Primary Responsibilities
Teach five sections of classes each semester
Coach or lead a co-curricular activity
Serve as an advisor to a group of approximately eight students
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in the relevant academic discipline (master’s degree preferred)
Three or more years of teaching experience at the secondary level is preferred
Experience with theater, public speaking, performance, debate or other forms of student presentation is preferred but not required.
