Arts and Events is seeking a creative, self-motivated, organized Events Assistant with strong customer service skill to plan and host an array of onsite programs, events, and services to strengthen UCSF's commitment to social wellness of its faculty, staff, researchers, trainees, and learners. Under the direction of the Events and Engagement Coordinator, the Events Assistant will assist in developing fun and interactive work-life experiences that promote a culture of wellness, community, equity, inclusion, and belonging amongst the UCSF community.
The Events Assistant will assist in the creation of community building and engagement programs, event coordination, and assist with department sponsored programs such as (but not limited to):
* UCSF Volunteers,
* Staff Registered Campus Organizations,
* UCSF Discounts Program,
* Chancellor's Staff Appreciation events,
* Piano Reservations.
The Events Assistant assists with events such as music, art, performance, and community-building events for the UCSF community. They assist with all event logistics, event planning, event promotion, outreach activities, and on-site support including vendor management, participant interaction, and volunteer logistics. The incumbent will assist in the communication of programs and services to the UCSF community. They will also assist with monitoring and responding to emails in Arts and Events and UCSF Volunteer inboxes.
The ideal candidate thrives within a collaborative work environment and has strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to connect with a broad range of clientele and service users. They have evidenced proficiency with technologies for event management and can develop organizational systems to ensure event success. They have proven their ability to prepare and execute in person and virtual experiences. The Events Assistant must be able to work a flexible schedule as some events happen on nights and weekends, as well as work autonomously under general supervision.** Note: This is a one-year Hybrid contract position with potential to become a career position. Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
