The Upper School Theater Teacher opening is a full-time position reporting to the Head of the Upper School. This position is responsible for teaching theater classes to students in grades 9-12. Classes feature students at all levels, from beginning to more advanced. This position participates in the development and activities of the Performing Arts program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach four sections of theater and/or visual and performing arts to students at varying levels of experience
• Collaborate on the technical aspects of various productions throughout the year, including set and lighting design and construction
• Prepare inspiring lessons, develop and deliver theater curriculum leading students toward mastery of essential skills and techniques
• Instruct students on the effective, responsible, and safe use of the scene shop and theatrical spaces, including equipment and tools
• Maintain safe and clean work and storage spaces
• Provide effective and efficient organization and operation of the scene shop and theatrical spaces
• Encourage students to engage in the design process
• Keep attendance records; manage student behavior in classroom and maintain a positive environment for all students
• Observe and evaluate students’ progress
• Collaborate with colleagues within the department and the Upper School
• Participate in faculty meetings and teacher training workshops as appropriate
• Participate in the advisory program as needed
