Production Manager - Theatre Arts and Dance

Production Manager, Department of Theatre Arts & Dance
The Production Manager is responsible for the scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of the department’s production season, which consists of approximately four mainstage productions, three specialty series, and twenty studio series within the theatre arts and dance disciplines. The Production Manager reports to the Head of the Design and Technology Program and works as a member of the production team to manage all of the day-to-day aspects of the production season in order to ensure successful performances and maintain positive relationships within the department and the community. The Production Manager supervises full-time staff members of the production/design and technology team.
Communication 50% Facilitate clear and consice communication throughout the production process and act as liaison between directors; designers, stage managers, and TAD production and administrative staff. This includes but is not limited to: coordinate and conduct all production meetings; attend design meetings (when invited), first read-through, designer run, technical rehearsals and previews as necessary. Assist all director/design teams through the design process to guarantee the timely completion of all designs. In coordination with appropriate technical staff, analyze all designs submitted to determine feasibility of execution with the allotted time, money, and available personnel. Hold weekly Production Supervisors Team (PST) meetings and other meetings as appropriate. Coordinate post-show de-briefs with the Head of the Design and Technology Program.
Scheduling 25% Maintain all production calendars, gather and disseminate all necessary information to complete and maintain accurate and up-to-date production calendars, including all design deadlines for production. Determine load-in, technical schedules, and strike for all productions. Manage resources for all shared facility spaces. Schedule and run all production meetings.
Logistics/Administration 25% Assist in the creation and management of production budgets; consult on facility and equipment needs; assist in grant procurement; manage rights and royalties for productions; attend season selection meetings.

Required Qualifications: BA or BS degree or equivalent (substantial demonstrated and successful professional experience in the theatrical field related to the position may be substituted for the B.A. degree.) See below* Six years of professional experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail Proven ability to interact effectively with all theater disciplines and all skill levels Proven ability to focus on many projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines Proven ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative and communicative team environment Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Dance, Devised Work and Text-based Performance
*Theatre Arts BA/BS Degree Equivalency Statement for non-instructional P&A positions: Substantial demonstrated and successful professional experience may be demonstrated by both of the following: (A) Ten (10) or more years of demonstrated and successful professional experience in the theatrical field related to the position; (B) Evaluation by a faculty committee that the professional achievement of the candidates constitutes equivalency with the required qualifications. |
