About the Department:
The Reva and Sid Dewberry Family School of Music's mission is to enable every student to find his or her best musical voice; prepare each to fulfill society's need for artistic and innovative musicians, scholars, music educators, and ambassadors for the arts; and graduate each with hope, confidence, and distinction.
About the Position:
The Adjunct Applied Tuba Professor will teach individualized lessons, starting August 24, 2026 and will co-direct the George Mason University Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.
Responsibilities:
Teach applied tuba during daytime hours on campus;
Co-direct the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble;
Assist with recruitment for the Tuba Studio; and
Participate in Brass Area initiatives, including performances, faculty recitals, auditions, and juries.
Required Qualifications:
Master?s Degree in Music required;
Successful experience teaching at the college level;
Demonstrated experience working with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds; and
Have an established reputation as a professional artist with a documented portfolio of live performances.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Music.
