| Department: | Transportation Services UMBC Transit provides extensive fixed route bus service to the UMBC campus and the surrounding communities. Primary locations serviced include: Technology Research Center (TRC), UMBC South Campus - Bwtech South, Freshmen satellite parking lot, BWI MARC/Amtrak train station, Halethorpe MARC train station, downtown Arbutus, Catonsville, Baltimore Inner Harbor and more. This service extends to weekends with additional access to Route 40 (Baltimore National Pike) business district (Wal-Mart, international grocery markets, various shopping centers) and Arundel Mills Mall. Of special interest are the weekday/weekend connections to downtown Arbutus (East Drive, OCA Mocha), restaurants, R/C Hollywood Cinema 4, Village Junction Bakery and much more. UMBC Transit also connects to: Charm City Circulator, Collegetown networks, Inner Harbor, Lexington Market, sports stadiums, University of Baltimore (UMB) campus, Baltimore Convention Center, museums, theatres, restaurants and more. This service serves current students, staff and faculty members with a valid black & gold UMBC ID. |

| Responsibilities: | Reporting to the Director of Transit in the Division of Student Affairs, the incumbent will oversee the UMBC Transit Charter Program. Specific duties include: providing timely estimates, driver scheduling, and service invoicing; operating/assisting with interstate charters; hiring drivers; goal setting, performance review, and progressive disciplinary actions for staff; establishing staff development to ensure consistent adherence to UMBC Transit policies and procedures; participating in department meetings, safety briefs (instructions on safe driving behavior and best practices) and monthly safety meetings; assisting in overall leadership of Transit operation; performing administrative tasks; and performing other duties as assigned. |
| Required Minimum Qualifications: | - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with (3) years of transportation experience in charter bus operations *OR*Â 7 years of progressive experience in charter bus operations and management.
- 2 years of customer service (client contact) experience.
- Must have excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google apps.
- Able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the operation.
- The incumbent must possess strong knowledge and adherence of FMCSA HOS policies and regulations, and experience planning, mapping, and scheduling routes appropriate to vehicle size and the ability to perform and instruct on pre/post trip inspections, conduct accident investigations in conjunction with Safety & Training Manager, and safety audits.
- This position requires flexibility in a revolving work schedule, including some days, nights, and weekends in order to accommodate training, routes and other requirements in compliance with HOS.
- Candidate must have a Maryland Commercial Class B Driver’s License with Air Brake and Passenger Endorsement.

| Salary: | Salary: $82,000 to $93,000Â depending on qualifications and experience.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. |
