APAP believes that pay transparency is a critical step toward pay equity and benefits both the job seeker and the employer. For those reasons, we are now requiring that employers include a salary range in all new job postings.
Postings that are backfilled from another association’s career center may not include salary information.

The Department of Music in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Richmond welcomes applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Voice at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year.
The Department of Music encourages students to integrate creative and practical skills with critical thinking and intellectual inquiry, empowering them for a lifetime of learning and creation. We seek candidates with a commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching music majors and non-majors in a vibrant and demanding undergraduate liberal arts context. The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to support and instruct students with a wide range of backgrounds, abilities, and musical interests, as demonstrated through their pedagogy and mentoring. The applicant should be an active performer who can successfully balance their teaching commitments with their professional activity.
The preferred candidate would have a strong background in art song and vocal pedagogy, focusing on helping students develop a strong foundation in basic vocal technique. The appointee will teach a studio of ten undergraduate voice students in private lessons per semester and offer an additional course each academic year related to their specialty. As the department's Coordinator of Vocal Studies, the successful candidate will, in concert with the department chair, supervise 4-5 part-time voice teachers who teach a range of styles and repertoires.
A Doctorate in Voice Performance or Voice Pedagogy is required by the time of appointment.
Applicants should apply online at https://jobs.richmond.edu and submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter, teaching statement, creative activity statement (suggested length: 2 single-spaced pages per statement), a sample of recent recital programs, and links to video recordings of two recent performances. The teaching statement should detail the candidate's teaching philosophy and commitment to educating a diverse student body through inclusive pedagogies. The performance videos should include a total of at least five works displaying the candidate's range.
Candidates for this position may be asked, at a later date, to provide the names and contact information for three references who will be asked to submit letters of recommendation. Review of applications will commence on December 20, 2025. Please contact Dr. Andy McGraw (amcgraw@richmond.edu) with any questions.
