FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Music, Multimedia, Theatre, and Dance (MMTD) at the City University of New York (CUNY) at Lehman College is searching for a Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) in the Department of Music, Multimedia, Theatre, and Dance (MMTD), School of Arts and Humanities, Lehman College/CUNY, Bronx, NY. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate/graduate Music major & non-major students. The candidate will teach introductory Music major courses, including Musicianship I and II and Theory I-IV, and introductory non-major courses, including Introduction to Music and Fundamentals of Music. The candidate will participate in interdisciplinary collaborations and services that benefit the department and college.
We seek candidates who demonstrate the potential for continued creative activity, effectiveness in classroom teaching, and a commitment of service to the college. Pedagogical flexibility, a commitment to creative practices, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary manner within a growing music department is highly desired, particularly in developing and nurturing the musical development of students from underrepresented communities. Candidates should have an established record of excellence in teaching, the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution, the potential for further scholarship and creative activity, and maintain a strong commitment to students.
The program in Music in the Department of Music, Multimedia, Theatre, and Dance offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Music and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree in Applied Music and Music Teaching, as well as minors in Music and Digital Music Applications, and an advanced certificate in Applied Music and Music Teaching.
The title of Lecturer at the City University of New York is a "tenure-bearing (certificate of continuous employment) title used for full-time members of the faculty who are hired to teach and perform faculty functions, but do not have a research commitment" (PSC CUNY Contract, Article 11, section 11.1: https://psc-cuny.org/contract/article-11-classification-titles). Lecturers and Lecturers (Doctoral Schedule) at the City University of New York have an annual workload of 24 hours.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. (D.M.A. or Ed.D.). Appropriate experience teaching courses in music theory, history, or interdisciplinary music studies at the university level. The Candidate should have an established record of excellence in teaching courses. Also required are the abilities to teach effectively and cooperate productively with others for the department, college, faculty, and students. Ability to teach a wide range of music courses, such as jazz performance, piano, composition, form and analysis, music history (Western and Non-Western), and music pedagogy, is strongly preferred
