Job Summary
Troy University is seeking an energetic, dynamic, outstanding musician/music industry professional to join the John M. Long School of Music faculty. The School of Music is a vital part of a dynamic, global university. The Music Industry program is well-established, and includes multiple, music-focused undergraduate majors and a graduate degree option (MBA – Music Industry Emphasis) in collaboration with the College of Business.
The successful candidate will teach core undergraduate and graduate music industry courses selected from commercial music, American popular music, music publishing, music marketing and production and media composition and sound design; assist in overseeing the music industry program (planning, assessment, and development) working in collaboration with faculty colleagues and School of Music administration; serve as an academic advisor for music industry majors and minors; coordinate and supervise student internships; contribute to undergraduate and graduate recruiting and retention; maintain an active national/international professional presence and creative activity profile consistent with the expectations of tenure and promotion; participate in shared governance through service to the School, College, and University.
The start date for the position is August 1, 2025. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in music or equivalent professional experience.
Significant professional experience in more than one of the following areas: Music Publishing and Licensing, Copyright, Record Company Operations, Artist Management, Music in Media, Media Composition, Sound Design, and Marketing.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Experience and/or understanding of current and emerging practices in digital production, distribution, marketing, and technology.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect, empathy, and cultural humility.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
