Elgin Community College is seeking a full-time Senior Director of Performing Arts!
The Senior Director of Performing Arts provides collaborative leadership for performance related aspects of a multi-venue instructional and community visual and performing arts center.
The position is responsible for strategic planning and oversight of College performing arts programs and the Arts Center’s profit center. The senior director develops and maintains an effective operational model with earned income from a blend of the Arts Center’s national visiting artist series, producing operations, community and internal rentals, and contributed income. The senior director connects visiting artist educational outreach programs with the college’s instructional activities, and fosters accessible, inclusive, and diverse cultural programming to enrich the college district’s artistic vitality and cultural vibrancy.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Master’s degree with 5 years of experience in arts administration, including supervisory experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of performing venue management
Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary and world-music genres, theatre genres and related artists
Comprehensive knowledge of local, national and international commercial and nonprofit music industries, including field-wide ideas and trends to support development of diverse, financially successful season lineups
Considerable knowledge of professional networks within cultural sector to support execution of artistic vision and programming
Comprehensive knowledge of accessibility, diversity and inclusiveness to enrich the district’s artistic vitality and cultural vibrancy
Considerable skill in both producing and presenting large scale events
Considerable skills to negotiate favorable contract terms with artist management companies
Considerable skills to direct and apply appropriate marketing principles, strategies and tactics (direct mail, print, broadcast, social media, web, etc.) to develop and execute marketing campaigns that generate sales for arts events
Considerable skill to articulate, communicate and actualize vision for integrating arts programming in the college and wider community
Considerable skills to connect interdisciplinary educational outreach programs with the college’s instructional activities
Considerable skills for supervising and fostering growth performing arts instructional programs Considerable skills in fiscal acumen, demonstrated successful financial management of mixed income streams within a non-profit and/or higher education context.
Considerable skills in grant writing with a track record of successful awards.
Experience in union environments preferred
Considerable diplomatic communication and interpersonal skills required to nurture and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, peers, superiors, community leaders, sponsors, volunteers and other stakeholders
Considerable strategic planning, managerial and financial skills required to adapt and thrive in changing and competitive entertainment/arts environment
Considerable skills in conflict resolution & cultural competency
Considerable skill in developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships with internal and external customers from diverse populations.
Additional Salary Information: Offer is based off candidate qualifications, requirements of position and internal equity. Minimum starts at $76,725
