Browne Academy is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic long-term, substitute music teacher who loves the arts and working with children in preschool through 4th grade. This position would be available starting December 2021 until Spring 2022, with the possibility of additional opportunities.

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in music designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, musical and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to reach their intellectual, creative and musical potential.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and experience teaching and/or working with children.
Experience in a performing arts ensemble such as choir, band, orchestra, etc.
General knowledge of curriculum, elementary music instructional strategies and state music standards
Knowledge of childhood development with appropriate singing and instrument playing techniques for children
Training in music education methods such as Orff, Kodaly, Feierabend, and Dalcroze preferred
Knowledge of reading music notation, piano skills preferred
Comfortable singing for students and teaching proper vocal techniques
Comfortable moving and dancing
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Implement pre-prepared lesson plans
Integrate technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement
Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, heads of school, and teachers
Maintain professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, responsible, and supportive of Browne Academy’s mission
Compile, maintain, and fill all reports, records, and other documents required
Comply with school policies
Adhere to the school’s safety and COVID policies and procedures
Demonstrate regular attendance
Other duties include recess and carline duties as assigned
