The Internal Communications Officer and Speech Writer coordinates and supports internal communications for the Office of the President and members of Cabinet. By writing and producing speeches, email communications, reports, presentations, content to be used on the web, and collateral material, the Internal Communications Officer and Speech Writer will convey complex concepts through dynamic language for a variety of university audiences. In addition to writing for the Office of the President and members of Cabinet, the Internal Communications Officer and Speech Writer will also plan, manage, and execute the internal communications strategy for the president of West Chester University. This position works closely with colleagues across the University to ensure consistency as it relates to institutional messages, themes, and priorities; exercises excellent judgment; and maintains discretion.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to write compelling copy effectively, creatively, and clearly across a range of media—often while working under tight deadlines; the ability to capture the distinctive voice of the president in speeches, remarks, presentations, and other written works and the ability to conceive and write material for senior leadership for internal and external audiences.
Writing and preparing high-level strategic communications for internal audiences, including researching, consulting with relevant colleagues, and writing original works.
Translating complex concepts into dynamic language for a wide range of audiences, including speeches, reports, presentations, content to be used on the web, and collateral material.
Planning, managing and executing the internal communications strategy for the president of West Chester University.
Collaborating with colleagues from University Communications and Marketing, as well as throughout the University
A minimum of four years of experience in a position (s) requiring extensive writing for senior leaders
Demonstrated experience in public relations, journalism or a communication related field
Experience in a higher education or not for profit environment
Excellent benefits package including undergraduate tuition fee waiver for self and dependents. The salary range for this position is $66,358-$75,837.
