Dept Marketing Statement The Department of Performance, Play & Design offers undergraduate bachelor's degrees in Theater Arts and Art: Games & Playable Media, degree minors in Theater Arts and Dance and a graduate Master of Arts in Theater Arts. The department provides technical training, aesthetic development and historical, theoretical and critical studies across all disciplines of Acting, Design, Dramaturgy, Game Design and Playable Media.
This developing student services professional serves as the Programs Coordinator of the Department of Performance, Play & Design. Under the general direction of the PPD Department Manager, the incumbent will provide program coordination and backup advising for the Theater Arts and Arts: Games & Playable Media undergraduate programs including resolving student services-related issues and coordination of a full range of quarterly programmatic needs.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary Information: Starting at $23.95/hourly. Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.
Provides foundational advising to frosh and transfer students in all department degrees. Assists students in determining a major, alternative academic options, scheduling conflicts, and similar issues. Refers students to non-academic resources as appropriate. Applies articulated courses to program/degree requirements and certifies degree completion. Advises on moderately complicated issues such as multiple degrees, and other complex academic plans. Advises department on scheduling needs for student course progression and requirements completion. Communicates and exchanges information with other units of the organization and makes referrals to help students with their academic program (e.g., health service, disabled students program, Colleges / Schools, transfer center, academic departments, graduate division, etc.).
Course Scheduling: Coordinates the scheduling of all classes each quarter, including large lecture courses and secondary sections. Solicits faculty preferences for time and room features; analyzes time and room assignments for course conflicts and determines class distribution throughout the week, following the Committee for Educational Policy (CEP) guidelines. Uses Google Calendar and the Campus Curriculum and Leave Planning (CCLP) database to prepare course scheduling. Makes classroom and/or time changes as necessary. Monitors enrollments, adjusts enrollment capacities as needed. Reviews and corrects enrollment and instructor data in the Campus Curriculum and Leave Planning (CCLP) database and communicates updates to the Registrar as changes occur.
40% - Program Advising Administration
Evaluations: Manages and processes quarterly on-line course evaluations (instructor and TA evaluations). Sets up student course evaluations/surveys online, notifies faculty when the evaluation system is open for students to submit course evaluations, monitors response rates and archives reports quarterly.
Department Communication: Updates annual revision of the department undergraduate handbooks; designs a range of materials; distributes to prospective and existing students, campus constituents and faculty. Develops and updates other resources including 1) the undergraduate student contents of the department's web page, 2) departmental informational material for departmental, divisional and campus-wide events, 3) major sheets for the Office of Admissions, 4) advising materials for freshman and junior transfer student orientations, 5) communicates program information via email listservs and social media (e.g., Discord, Instagram, Facebook, etc.) and 6) other communications, as assigned.
10% - General Administration
Provides administrative support as needed to the Department Manager and Department Chair. Attends meetings as necessary on behalf of the Department Manager.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
