The Costume Shop Supervisor provides support in all areas of costume construction, coordination and maintenance to the Department of Music, the Department of Theatre + Dance and the College’s Guest Artist programming. This position performs all duties in full support of the College’s mission, understanding that positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the College's students.
Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Serve as Wardrobe Supervisor for departmental and guest artist programming 2. Oversee all aspects of costume construction and/or procurement for departmental productions. 3. Supervise and schedule the fittings of costumes and pilot to a successful completion. 4. Collaborate with guest designers and aid in the production process 5. Provide for general maintenance and repair of costume shop equipment and inventory as needed 6. Hire, schedule, train and supervise student costume shop crew and those working for course credit or lab hours 7. Maintain a safe working environment and safe working practices
*This is currently a seasonal/non-benefited position: Sept '21-May '22 (potential full time track w/benefits to follow)
Minimum Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Costume Design/Technology or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. - Licenses – valid driver’s license - Strong work ethic with supervisory experience
Physical Demands: 1. Climbing stairs & shop ladders 2. Lifting heavy garments, and sewing machines/equipment ~ 50lbs. 3. Transfer of costumes to and from vehicle 4. Must be able to work occasional nights and weekend
About Trinity College
We represent the Austin Arts Center for Visual and Performing Arts here at Trinity College. We have both a 300 seat proscenium and flexible black box theater. There is also a state of the art Recital Hall and fully integrated Recording Studio. The Center hosts the productions of the Theater, Dance, and Music Departments as well as guest artist programming annually.
