Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service for WCU students, faculty, and staff that gets you a book, article, or other material not available at West Chester University Libraries.
The Library Technician for Interlibrary Loan is responsible for the operations supporting the delivery of library materials in support of student and faculty research. This includes the delivery of materials to West Chester University students, faculty and staff, as well as the delivery of materials to and from other libraries around the world.
Maintaining the interlibrary loan operations beyond normal business hours
Overseeing student workers and library assistants
Using specialized software, scanners, and other equipment and tools which require advanced technical skills in order to provide the Interlibrary Loan and Reserve services.
Assisting users at library service desks as scheduled as member of the Access Services team
Special projects and assignments as requested.
The ideal candidate is dependable, values teamwork, takes initiative, solve problems effectively, communicate clearly, has customer service experience; has advanced technical skills and supports organizational change.
Four years of library-clerical work including two years of advanced library clerical work comparable to the Library Assistant II, and graduation from high school OR
Two years of advanced library clerical work, and an associate degree or equivalent training with major course work in library science OR
A bachelor's degree.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of library techniques, procedures, and working tools used in accessing, cataloging, circulating; and maintaining library materials.
Skill in the application of the techniques and procedures used in cataloging.
Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in bibliography preparation and the use of library research materials.
Ability to apply library methods and principles in circulation and providing reader services.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other library personnel and the public.
The hours of this position is Sunday to Thursday from 12 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
