The Pembroke Hill School seeks a dynamic and collaborative Choir Director for a full-time position beginning in mid-August 2021. The position includes teaching all high school general music and choir classes.
The ideal candidate for the role will be one who seeks to stretch and support students with a student-centered approach, who collaborates effectively with the members of the upper school Performing Arts Department and with the upper school faculty as a whole.
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 3 years of teaching and conducting experience, preferably with high-school-aged students. A Music or Music Education Degree is required and a Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience is strongly preferred.
Teach all general music courses: Exploration to Music, Music History and AP Music Theory
Teach all choral ensembles: Concert Choir, Chorale, Madrigals & Top of the Hill
Serve as Music Director, Conductor, and provide vocal direction for the Upper School Winter Musical
Plan and lead the annual Upper School Choir trip
Manage the Upper School Choir operating budget
Maintain regular school hours; evening and weekend hours are also required.

Major Performances: BRAVOS, The Messiah, Winter Holiday Concert, Upper School Musical, Spring Choir Trip and the Spring Concert
Minor Performances: Homecoming Game, BBQ, Raider Rally or Ground Breaking Ceremonies, the National Anthem at Senior Nights for games, MMEA, US Awards Ceremony, and Graduation.
Selects appropriate and varied repertoire to fit the vocal needs and abilities of the students.
Assists students in selecting and preparing literature for MMEA solo/ensemble contests and honor choir auditions
Conducts rehearsals and performances as needed for all established programs (US Awards Assembly and Graduation)
Oversees the maintenance of uniforms and equipment including purchasing as necessary, assigning, labeling, inventorying, and keeping organized and in good repair
Oversees the maintenance of music scores, including ordering, numbering, filing in student boxes, and collecting and inventorying music after performances
