The Overlake School is anindependent, non-profit, NWAIS accredited school, serving 530 students in grades 5 - 12. Teaching Responsibilities: This teacher will work primarily in our middle school division, teaching two trimesters of 5th grade drama, two semesters of 6th grade drama, one semester of 7th/8th grade musical theater, and direct our school musical in collaboration with other arts faculty. Additional responsibilities may include serving as an Advisory leader for a group of 8 – 10 students, leading a club and supervising a weekly study hall.
Daily hours are 8:15am – 3:30pm M-F, on a rotating block schedule.
Bachelor’s degree in Drama, Theater Education, Theater Arts, or similar; Master’s degree preferred
Minimum two years relevant classroom teaching experience with both middle school and upper school students
Directing/stage production experience with middle and/or high-school students
Computer literate and technologically proficient
Natural rapport and demonstrated effective leadership with students
Experience in culturally responsive teaching methods & practices
Strong collaborative skills and ability to co-teach or co-lead
Effective classroom management and communication skills
Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
Online or Hybrid Learning experience
A background that contributes to the diversity of the community and a respect for and understanding of diverse cultures and experiences
