Qualifications:

• B.A. or B.S. with a minimum of 12 units of ECE specific coursework, preferred
• Candidates with an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education may also be considered
• Creative Curriculum training (preferred but not required)
• Responsive Classroom training (preferred but not required)
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, preferred

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Knowledge and understanding of and commitment to the school’s Mission, Vision & Core Values
• Provide a safe and nurturing classroom environment conducive to learning
• Plan, organize and implement age appropriate indoor and outdoor activities that provide active learning experiences and stimulate physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth in all students
• Lead students to develop independence and intellectual curiosity and foster the love for learning
• Facilitate learning centers (e.g. art, science, music, role play, story time, movement activities, etc.) for the purpose of improving the student's academic success and transition to Kindergarten and beyond
• Exhibit excellent classroom management and parent communication
• Provide recess, lunch, and dismissal supervision as assigned
• Cultivate an enthusiasm for learning in students
• Utilize technology to facilitate instruction, communication and enhance learning

Personal & Professional Qualities:

• Collaborate with other instructional staff, school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources
• Model conversation, manners, clean up activities, and listening skills for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior
• Understand the mission of the school and the need to focus on the education of the whole child
• Have a warm, engaging and energetic personality

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Work in school environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
• Occasionally bend, stoop, and squat
• May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
• Be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
• Willing to work some evening and weekends for school related events or projects
