The Director of the Office of Multicultural Services has primary responsibility for the development and coordination of outreach and awareness programming that will which will promote and educate the campus community on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Director of Multicultural Services will report to the Provost and work to develop and direct programs that attract and retain multicultural students and educate the general Malone Community.
In addition, the Director of Multicultural Services will provide resources, support services, and educational programming to students of color and international students. The Office of Multicultural Services will continue to assist Malone University in building and maintaining a community that is more inclusive of underrepresented American ethnic minorities and international students.
Provide leadership to multicultural students and student organizations and help to administer programming that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion and seeks to improve the campus climate and academic environment for students of color.
Provide services and mentoring opportunities to students of color that will help them remain successful while attending Malone University.
Create a successful pipeline to graduation and beyond for students of color.
Provide resources and educational programming to the campus body concerning multicultural issues.
Coordinate programs to help students become involved in the larger campus community while providing a sense of belonging for students of color.
Direct campus programming which celebrates diversity during Hispanic Heritage Month, Black History Month, MLK Remembrance, Asian American Month, and various cultural celebrations throughout the academic year.
Serve as advisor to Multicultural Student Union (MSU), Malone International Student Association (MISA), and One Voice Gospel Choir.
The Office of Multicultural Services will collaborate with other departments, programs, and organizations to sponsor speakers, workshops, and multicultural activities throughout the academic year. The Director of Multicultural Services will be responsible for coordinating the following programs that currently exist:
SmartStart Peer Mentorship Program – A mentorship program for African American and International first-year students.
MISA – Malone International Student Association – a program for all international students to provide cultural education, events, and travel that will expose them to American culture.
One Voice Gospel Choir – Designed for all students to participate in a form of worship known primarily in the African American community as Gospel Music
Multicultural Student Union – an organization for all students designed to create community among all cultures especially multicultural students.
The Director of Multicultural Services will also be responsible for coordinating events to assist faculty, staff, and students of color in finding a sense of community and belonging.
