The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at Yale University is looking to hire a one-year replacement lecturer in modern Japanese literature for the 2020-2021 academic year. The course-load is normally 5 courses, plus service to the department (thesis and graduate student advising, etc.). The courses would be for undergraduate and graduate students with readings in Japanese and English. The focus of the courses would be modern Japanese literature (1868 to the present), but candidates who can also work beyond that field, such as teaching critical theory, Edo-era literature, other arts or media such as theater, or intra-regional connections (China, Korea, Taiwan, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
