All School of Music faculty members are expected to maintain a record of performances, service, and creative productivity that indicates continuing growth of national and international visibility. The applicant must work collegially with others and be committed to undergraduate education. The successful candidate will be a highly enthusiastic teacher and recruiter who will continue to develop an outstanding orchestral and strings program. In addition to departmental needs, the candidate will serve as a liaison to the Huntsville Youth Orchestra.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Serve as the Director of Orchestral Studies; conduct the SHSU Symphony Orchestra, and String Chamber Orchestra; teach conducting at the undergraduate and graduate levels; teach other courses appropriate to the individual's background/experience and School of Music needs; establish positive relationships with public school orchestra programs; assist in recruiting string majors; actively collaborate with artist string faculty.
