Teaching Artists
Eastern Kentucky University
Posted: 01/30/2020 Online App: 13389 Position Summary: The Appalachian Shakespeare Center is looking for part time, project-based, teaching artists. This Teaching Artist works in collaboration with groups of high school students to create a project encouraging the exploration of Shakespearean text in order to promote agency and citizenship in the students. We bring them the unique opportunity to work with Professional Teaching Artists and Shakespearean actors who will help the students explore Shakespeare's texts in their own way. LCP culminates in the Loose Canon Festival held on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University, the Pilot Project was held in April 2019. The Festival is a celebration where the students gather and share what they've created with each other, their schools, family and friends, and with the community at large. Minimum Experience: Experience in teaching/leading large group activities and exercises. Experience in Shakespearean text, analysis, and performance or in classical theatre, or other relevant experience. Knowledge of theatre pedagogy and technique.
