The University of Minnesota, department of Theatre Arts and Dance, has an occasional need for part-time, temporary theatre arts or dance instructors to teach day or evening classes. This does not constitute a posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the 2020-2021 academic year. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt. Applicants will only be contacted should an active opening occur during the academic year. Positions may be appointed during the 2020-2021 academic year: fall semester 2020 (08/31/2020 - 01/13/2021), spring semester 2021 (01/14/2021 - 05/30/2021) or summer 2021.
Theatre Arts Teach one or more of the following courses: acting; stage movement specialties; career entry/audition techniques; acting for the camera; directing; property, lighting, costume crafts; scene, costume, makeup, lighting, and sound design, or any other theatre arts 1xxx or 3xxx classes that may need instruction throughout the academic year.
Teach movement technique, composition, and/or critical dance theory or other dance courses.
Theatre Arts Teaching Specialist or Lecturer:
Required Qualifications: BA/BFA or five years of professional experience; experience teaching advanced theatre students or certification in relevant field. Candidates with BA/BFA will be hired as teaching specialists.
Preferred Qualifications: MA/MFA or seven years professional training or extensive professional experience in the area of specialization. Candidates with MA/MFA will be hired as lecturers.
Dance Program Teaching Specialist or Lecturer:
Required Qualifications: BA/BFA or five years of professional experience; with experience teaching dance students, or certification in the relevant field of study. Candidates with BA/BFA will be appointed as teaching specialists.
Preferred Qualifications: MA/MFA or seven years professional training and/or extensive professional experience in the area of specialization. Candidates with MA/MFA will be appointed as lecturers.
