JOB DESCRIPTION: Part-time performing-arts and music instructor

JOB SUMMARY: The Hickory Day School performing-arts and music instructor works with all members of the school community to develop co-curricular instruction that supports and reinforces the curriculum of the school. The performing-arts/music instructor reports to the Head of School and works collaboratively with all members of the faculty and staff. Â

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
An undergraduate degree in performing arts, music, and/or related arts is highly desirable as is North Carolina teacher certification.
Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the school community.
Love of children and education along with the ability to deal with children from ages 5 to 11 in a caring, compassionate, and supportive manner.
Willingness to support the beliefs and practices of the International Baccalaureate Organization and to receive training in its principles for kindergarten through 5th
A commitment to ongoing professional development in the fields of both education and performing arts/music.
Creation of meaningful and challenging lessons that reinforce classroom curricula and challenge students to expand their horizons and global perspectives.
Ancillary duties including, but not limited to, participation in faculty/staff meetings, teacher work days, school events, student assessment, weekly classroom communications, and student supervision.
Professional demeanor and decorum required at all times.
Other duties as assigned.

DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Previous experience in a school setting.
North Carolina (or other state) teacher licensure.
