Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Winter Term and the Dean of Arts & Sciences at Oberlin College, the Experiential Learning Programs Coordinator provides educational, administrative, financial, and logistical support for on- and off-campus Winter Term programs and Study Away. This is a full-time, one year Administrative and Professional Staff position.
Founded in 1833, Oberlin is a private four-year, selective liberal arts college near Cleveland, Ohio and is also home to an outstanding Conservatory of Music. Together, the two divisions enroll approximately 2900 students. Oberlin College was the first college in the US to make interracial education and co-education central to its mission. The College continues to view a diverse, equitable and inclusive educational environment as essential to the excellence of its academic program.
Responsibilities:
The Office of Winter Term manages the project proposal, application, and grant processes for Winter Term and also coordinates the work of the Winter Term Committee. Oberlin's Winter Term takes place each January for four weeks and encourages students to explore fields of study and experiential learning opportunities that may directly link to their major, but also encourages exploration beyond the major.
Study Away promotes international education (study abroad and away, global academic service learning, and international internships) by advising students, faculty, and staff on various opportunities and options; working with students and faculty to assure compliance with college policies; identifying appropriate opportunities; preparing students for an immersion experience; developing and offering opportunities for students for reflection and application of experience through learning portfolio mentorship; advocating on campus for global immersion experience; and supporting the mission of the Center for Engaged Liberal Arts.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in appropriate field.
Demonstrated experience working in higher education.
Experience with basic financial management.
Experience establishing relationships and positive communications across multiple dimensions of diversity.
Ability to navigate campus-community partnerships ethically and responsibly.
Experience with student development in higher education.
Compensation:
Within the range established for this position, salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
