The Scene Shop staff are responsible for assisting the Technical Directors, designers, and staff in the completion of productions and shop activities. Assist with scenic construction, theatrical scenic maintenance, theatrical lighting and equipment maintenance, set-up and breakdown, and the efficient operation of college theatre performances.High School Diploma/GED required. Professional training in a specialized theatrical skill or completion of college level Stagecraft class preferred. At least one year of related work experience (building of sets, construction, handyman work, sound or lighting experience) highly preferred. Those with professional training in a specialized theatrical skill are given strong consideration. Ability to work during peak times including weekends and evenings, when needed. Able to work overtime during peak periods and fill in for absences as needed.
Positions located on the Catonsville and Essex campuses
1. Assist with the building of sets including carpentry: measuring, cutting, construction, and use of power tools.
2. Welding under supervision.
3.Hanging, cabling, focusing of lights.
4. Setup and operation of sound system including soundboard, mics, amps, speaker.
5. Designing and constructing props.
6. Strong organizational skills, breakdown and storage of scenery, cleaning work and performance spaces, troubleshooting equipment.
7. As needed, serve as a technician or crew for events in the facility.
