St. Anne’s School is a two-year-old through Eighth Grade, co-educational, private Episcopal school located in scenic Annapolis, Maryland. St. Anne’s School of Annapolis is hiring a part-time Upper School Art Teacher who will instruct, guide, and supervise Sixth-Eighth Grade students in a warm, nurturing environment that is student centered and supports differentiated instruction.  This is an every-other day position.  With the support of the Head of Upper School (Fifth-Eighth Grade), this teacher will establish a safe and caring classroom community in which each child’s strengths, opinions, actions, and thoughts are valued. St. Anne’s School seeks life-long learners who possess the positive professionalism, community-mindedness, openness, engagement, and warmth that characterizes our entire staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cultivate art literacy skills in students while introducing a variety of mediums and techniques in Sixth-Eighth Grade art classes
• Showcase student work on bulletin boards, art shows, and other avenues
• Assist with set design for the Eighth Grade musical
• Support with Fine Arts Department events, including Artsy April
• Maintain proactive communication with parents about student progress, including through parent-teacher conferences, report cards, and portfolio conferences
• Plan and lead advisory meetings with a group of 8-12 students, and partner with grade-level co-advisors for advisory curricula
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events outside the life of the classroom
• Chaperone field trips, including possible overnight trips
• Complete lunch, recess, and other duties as assigned
• Work closely and collaboratively with colleagues and administrators to ensure each child’s success

Minimum Requirements:

• 3+ years teaching middle school art, preferably in an independent school setting
• Bachelor’s Degree in music or related field; Master's Degree preferred
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
• Knowledge of current research and best practices in brain-based teaching and learning
• Experience with the Responsive Classroom or Developmental Designs approach and project-based curriculum and assessments are a plus
