JOB SUMMARY:
The Department of Music at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a one-year, temporary, full-time position as Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Band) starting July 1, 2025. The Assistant Professor (Director of Bands) will assume leadership of the SVSU Band Program (Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble) and will teach other courses such as music theory, music history, or conducting, depending on the candidate’s areas of expertise. Teaching responsibilities are 24 hours per year, with classes commencing on August 25, 2025. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, an ability to work with diverse student populations, and a willingness to engage in departmental and University service, including recruitment and retention initiatives and mentoring students.
