Job Description:
Trinity University is seeking a Part-Time Instructor for the Fall 2025 semester to teach private studio voice lessons.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Typical responsibilities of part-time faculty members include but are not limited to:
Developing the course syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets departmental and University standards
Planning, executing, and evaluating regular individual lessons for each student
Working with department and office staff in creating and coordinating any individual student performances, including, but not limited to the creation of a printed program, reserving dates and venues, and assisting the student in the preparation of any performances
Developing an assessment protocol in the context of private studio lessons for evaluation and grading.
Assigning early, midterm, and final grades in compliance with University deadlines
Maintaining office hours as directed by the department chair or program director
Making student accommodations as determined by the Office of Student Accessibility Services
Adhering to all instructional policies as published in the Faculty Handbook and the Courses of Study Bulletin
APPOINTMENT DETAILS
All Part-Time Faculty in the Music Department are hired on a per semester basis, with the possibility of continuous renewal pending review by the Department Chair
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in music, or equivalent professional performance record
Preferred: Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate), preferably in music
EXPERIENCE
Preferred: Private instruction at the secondary and/or collegiate level
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
Mastery of all performance elements in vocal performance, including technique, repertoire knowledge, and opera and/or musical theatre.
Ability to design and implement personalized, progressive, purposeful instruction in vocal studies
Ability to design create an assessment protocol in the context of private studio lessons for evaluation and grading.
Commitment to the liberal arts mission of Trinity University
Ability to be a communicative, supportive, collaborative colleague
Understanding and commitment to musical instruction within the context of the liberal arts mission of Trinity University
