The Elisabeth Morrow School, a leader in education from early childhood through middle school, seeks to fill one Flute Teacher Position to teach students in grades 3-8 beginning in January 2025. This part-time position includes teaching small lesson groups, orchestra and band sectionals, with the option to teach private lessons through the auxiliary program after school.
The hours of work fall within regular school hours (8:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.) with required attendance for concerts 3-4 times a year that fall outside of those hours. This position reports to the Director of the Arts.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Teach small group lessons, coach sectionals, and play alongside students in the Band/Orchestra rehearsals
- Plan and assign weekly homework assignments in Google Classroom to promote students’ progress as appropriate and to prepare for concerts
- Attend music faculty meetings, rehearsals, concerts, graduation, and All-School assemblies as assigned by the Director of the Arts
- Submit student progress reports three times a year
- Attend family-teacher conferences twice a year
Essential Qualifications
- A degree in music performance and/or music education along with expertise in flute
- Experience teaching in elementary- and middle school-aged children in a school setting (preferred)
- Be a strong collaborator and exude a love of music and the artistic process
- Proficient with Google Suite
- Exhibit professionalism and strong communication skills with families, students, and colleagues
