The State University of New York at Fredonia invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Music, with a specialization in class piano, to teach in the class piano program which intersects with all curricula. This position requires demonstrated excellence in class piano pedagogy, with the ability to inspire and mentor students across a range of musical genres and degree programs. Core responsibilities include teaching class piano for music and non-music majors, contributing to curriculum development, and collaborating on administrative tasks with the area coordinator. Versatility is essential, as the ideal candidate will bring a passion for both traditional and contemporary approaches, fostering student growth at all levels and backgrounds.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Music Studies, the successful candidate will:
Teach piano classes to for pianist and non-pianist students;
Contribute to class piano curriculum development and revision of courses;
Collaborate on administrative tasks with the area coordinator;
Support student retention and success through academic; advising and efforts toward inclusion and belonging;
Recommend and implement curricular and pedagogical practice in the field of class piano instruction;
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, School of Music, university, and profession;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies
This is a full-time, UUP represented, Lecturer position beginning Fall 2025, with a salary of $50,063 - $53,000, commensurate with experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in a relevant discipline;
Two years of experience teaching undergraduate class piano courses as a teaching assistant and/or instructor of record;
Experience teaching a diverse range of undergraduate students across a range of musical genres and degree programs;
Demonstrated ability and continued desire to support student needs across multiple music degree disciplines (i.e., music education, music therapy, music performance, music composition, sound recording technology);
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and school missions;
Experience with instructional technology;
Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in music education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline;
Demonstrated engagement with pedagogical practices and/or research frameworks that advance music in higher education practices toward diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and accessibility and can inform course offerings across our curriculum;
Exhibit familiarity with both traditional and contemporary class piano pedagogies and the ability to reconcile diverse approaches;
Displayed commitment to community engagement with and ongoing interest to continue these behaviors at Fredonia.
