Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a full time Creative Studies Assistant Teacher with knowledge in any of the following fields: film/video production, graphic design, photography, and/or performing arts. This position provides an opportunity for a beginning teacher, or someone who is interested in joining the teaching profession, to experience working with our Creative Studies team to further their knowledge and develop their teaching skills in a variety of subjects..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values

Work collaboratively with cooperating Head Teacher and other related service providers and specialists to plan and implement units of study, lessons, assignments, projects & activities
Supervise students during transitions and some specialty classes
Supervise students during lunch and recess periods
Support students by scaffolding in-class assignments, tasks and projects
Assess student work and participation
Seek improved methods of teaching through professional development opportunities
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
BA or BS Degree ( i.e. degree in theater, graphic design, photography, filmmaking, technology/STEAM, Secondary Education, Special Education or related field preferred)
Experience working with, mentoring, supervising and/or building positive relationships with adolescents.
Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective service strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology
Interest in professional career development in the field of special education
Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
$45K-$53K commensurate with experience

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
