Job Summary:
The Librarian for Instruction and Access Services in the Conservatory Library at Oberlin College provides leadership as manager of all aspects of the Conservatory Library's public service activities. This includes music reference and research support, instruction and information literacy activities for the Conservatory and College, the development of innovative access and outreach services, and oversight of circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserves activities for the Conservatory Library. This is a 12-month, continuing, Administrative and Professional Staff position that reports to the Head of the Conservatory Library and is responsible for supervising Circulation staff (2 FTE) and student workers (9 FTE).
Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and oversight in developing, promoting, and ongoing assessment of a comprehensive public services program that considers virtual and physical spaces; strategic outreach and programmatic activities; information literacy excellence; enhancing user experience within the Conservatory Library. Works closely with faculty to provide bibliographic instruction in music.
Responsible for directly supervising Circulation staff (2 FTE) and indirectly supervising student workers (9 FTE). Responsible for supervising, training, and scheduling student reference assistants (1 FTE)
Provides music reference and research support, instruction, and information literacy activities for the Conservatory and College, as well as the development of innovative access and outreach services for the Conservatory Library.
Actively engages with faculty, instructors, and other Oberlin librarians in integrating information literacy concepts and skills.
Creates and designs instructional materials in paper-based and digital formats.
Liaises with the Information Literacy and Assessment Librarian on Conservatory Library's instructional services, information literacy programs, and library services and spaces supporting student learning.
Coordinates with the Collections and User Experience Librarian to ensure effective data and statistics collection for use in reporting and evaluates and assesses instructional programs, services, resources, and products.
Assists faculty in the use of the Conservatory Library's collection and resources.
With the Head of Conservatory Library, maintain the Conservatory Library's website and related online subject and course guides.
Oversees the summer public service programs (orientation, circulation, and reference) that support the Conservatory's summer institutes and masterclasses.
Collaborates in developing new student orientation with the Head of the Conservatory Library and other staff.
Contributes to library outreach and social media initiatives that support the Conservatory Library's activities and advocacy efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required qualifications:
Graduate degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution.
Second advanced degree in music
Minimum of five years of library experience in an academic or research library/archive, or museum setting.·
Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to foster positive working relationships and build partnerships with diverse scholars and colleagues.
Demonstrated effective leadership.
Supervisory experience and the ability to inspire superior performance from staff.
Ability to work creatively, independently, and take risks.
Competency in using a variety of technologies.
Creativity, initiative, and interest in innovative approaches to reference, instruction, and public services with a user-focused approach.
Demonstrated ability to work proactively and effectively with faculty.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Compensation:
Within the range established for this position, the salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will receive a generous compensation package, benefits, tuition remission for eligible dependents, and 35 days of paid PTO.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
