APAP believes that pay transparency is a critical step toward pay equity and benefits both the job seeker and the employer. For those reasons, we are now requiring that employers include a salary range in all new job postings.
Postings that are backfilled from another association’s career center may not include salary information.

Lakehill Preparatory School seeks a full-time Performing Arts Teaching Fellow for the 2026–27 school year with a primary emphasis on directing and producing Middle School and Upper School drama and musical theatre, including artistic leadership, rehearsal management, and scenic design and construction.
This position is designed for a beginning theatre professional who will serve as a learning creative leader within the Performing Arts program, guiding students through the full theatrical process while gaining mentorship and institutional support within an independent school environment. While titled as a Teaching Fellow, this role carries significant responsibility and ownership in the planning, execution, and artistic vision of Lakehill’s theatrical productions.
Primary responsibilities include co-directing plays and musical theatre productions, leading the rehearsal process, learning to create an artistic vision, blocking, coaching performance, and collaborating on music, choreography, and technical elements. The Fellow will also oversee scenic design and set construction, working directly with directors, parents and students to plan, build, and safely execute designs that support storytelling and production values. Additional responsibilities include supporting Choir program as appropriate.
Through mentorship, feedback, and professional development, the Teaching Fellow will further develop skills in pedagogy, curriculum development, classroom management, and student development, while actively functioning in a director-level role within the Performing Arts department. This position is designed as a one-year appointment, with the potential to extend for a second year.
Lakehill Preparatory School guides motivated students to learn with curiosity, lead with confidence, and serve with compassion. Our challenging and nurturing educational community inspires students to become collaborative problem-solvers who live with integrity.
Ideal candidates should have the following qualifications:

Strong background or working knowledge in scenic design, set construction, and technical theatre practices.
Ability to lead students through the complete production process, from concept and rehearsal to performance and strike.
Commitment to differentiated instruction for students with a wide range of abilities and experience levels.
Willingness to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to innovative curricular and production planning.
Facility with theatrical and classroom technologies to support instruction and production needs.
Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.
Demonstrate genuine enthusiasm, positive presence, and flexibility.
A commitment to Lakehill’s mission of learning with curiosity, leading with confidence, and serving with compassion, and to modeling professionalism, creativity, and integrity for students.
