The Campus Minister, who works in partnership with Carrollton’s Administration and reports to the Upper School Head, is responsible for fostering students' spiritual and faith development in accordance with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. Candidates committed to educational innovation, professional growth, and servant leadership are encouraged to apply.
Essential duties and responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
A commitment to the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Network Schools as articulated in the school mission.
Establishing and maintaining a Campus Ministry Office that facilitates Campus Ministry activities and serves as a resource for the school's spiritual life.
Cultivating faculty and student participation and leadership for Campus Ministry programs, including appointing and mentoring the members of Campus Ministry; appointing student coordinators of specific programs or activities as appropriate; and inviting and developing faculty participation in leadership teams as appropriate.
Recruiting, training, and coordinating Campus Ministry volunteers for Lower School retreats and service day programming, as well as other Lower School prayer experiences.
Recruiting and coordinating candidates for the weeklong peer ministry training program operated by the Archdiocese of Miami.
Supporting programs that support and enhance the liturgical, retreat, pastoral, and service life of the school.
Recruiting, training, and coordinating Campus Ministry volunteers for upper school Campus Ministry activities, such as but not limited to: Sacred Space prayer assemblies, Masses, youth group, e-ministries, and new student ministry.
Planning class Masses for 9th through 12th grade (each class has 2 Masses per year)
Coordinate special programs for liturgical seasons. This includes recruiting and coordinating Mass volunteers for all-school and community Masses, training students as lectors and altar servers, and collaborating with Music programs for liturgical ministries.
Coordinating and leading the school's spiritual retreat program, including day retreats for 7th and 8th graders, the four 3-day/2-night retreats for 9th through 12th, and the Mother-Daughter and/or Father-Daughter day retreats in both the Lower and Upper Schools
Planning Upper School Mini-session activities as assigned.
Coordinating with Communications, Community Outreach, and Alumnae offices as needed.
Collaborating with the Lower and Upper School Heads and Associate Heads, Admissions, and Community Relations concerning appropriate programming and scheduling.
Collaborating with the Religion Discipline and other academic departments concerning appropriate programming
Teach Upper School Classes
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree in a theological field is preferred
Be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
Three to five years of relevant experience
Commitment to ongoing professional growth
Enthusiasm for supporting students of all abilities
Strong communication and organizational skills
Demonstrated success with effective use of technology
Strong pastoral skills for nurturing the spiritual life of students of all faith backgrounds
