The Acting Program at the David Geffen School of Drama (DGSD) at Yale University seeks a teacher of Speech and Accents to join a dedicated faculty of theater artists and professionals.
With an emphasis on the individual and commitment to being an advocate and partner in the evolution and expansion of each student?s unique and distinctive artistic self, the Acting Program at DGSD is seeking a faculty collaborator who has flexibility in adapting and synthesizing methodologies to the needs of a widely diverse community of actors in training and who possesses a high degree of skill and expertise at broadening the actors range of imaginative vocal expression, dynamic transformation and sensory relationship to language.
The David Geffen School of Drama, in partnership with Yale Repertory Theatre (YRT), trains and advances leaders in the practice of every theatrical discipline, making art to inspire joy, empathy, and understanding in the world. DGSD?s and Yale Rep?s core values are artistry, belonging, collaboration, and discovery: working together our community comprises eight three-year MFA programs-Acting, Design, Directing, Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism, Playwriting, Stage Management, Technical Design and Production, and Theater Management-as well as a one-year Technical Internship program.

The Acting program at DGSD admits talented and committed individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences in making theater who possess a lively intelligence, a strong imagination, a collaborative ethos, and a physical and vocal instrument capable of development and transformation. It is our aim to prepare students for work as professional actors with the ability to work on a wide range of material in multiple genres, processes, mediums and venues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Faculty in this position would be expected to teach classes and tutorials in accents, dialects, and speech to a cohort of Acting students in various years of the three-year Acting program; serve as vocal/dialect coach in DGSD productions, classroom projects, and special programs as requested by Head of Voice and Text; and advise, direct and evaluate student progress and report on the individual needs of students as observed in class, tutorials, rehearsals, and performances.
Faculty supports the Chair of Acting and Head of Voice and Text in contributing ideas to the ongoing evaluation of the curriculum. Faculty may co-teach or collaborate with other faculty and across different DGSD programs as part of the unique training environment at DGSD is its in-depth, interdisciplinary production work with the programs of Design, Directing, Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism, Playwriting, Stage Management, Technical Design and Production and Theater Management.
Faculty will collaborate with DGSD/Yale Repertory Theatre (YRT) staff or faculty concerning DGSD/Yale Repertory Theatre productions, as needed; serve as vocal/dialect coach in YRT productions as mutually agreed with YRT Artistic Director and attend at least one performance of all DGSD and YRT productions and projects.
In support of departmental administration and recruiting needs, Faculty will participate as requested in initial auditions and callback processes for incoming students. Faculty will attend Acting Program faculty meetings and student evaluation meetings. Other duties might include committee service and representing the Program within and outside of DGSD as requested by Head of Voice and Text, Chair of Acting Program, or Dean.
RANK AND TERM OF APPOINTMENT
The appointment will be at an open rank commensurate with the successful candidate?s experience (Assistant Professor Adjunct/Associate Professor Adjunct/Professor in the Practice), for a term of no less than three years beginning July 1, 2026, renewable, and includes competitive salary with full faculty benefits. Minimum base salary: $100K.
