APAP Career Center

Full-time, tenure-track position in Graphic and Interactive Design. Requires an understanding of the critical, historical, and theoretical aspects of graphic and interactive design as well as an engagement in evolving practices in the field.  Applies this understanding to different areas within interactive design (UX/UI), graphic design typography, motion graphics, animation, user experience, and mobile device application to teach screen-based design and print courses as needed.

The Graphic + Interactive Design Program is a vital part of the Cliffe College of CreativeArts, a dynamic component of the Youngstown State University campus, and a major regional arts resource. The College's vibrant community of artists, educators, and scholars is engaged in nationally accredited programs of instruction, innovative and immersive experiences, and professional performances and exhibitions. Extraordinary facilities include state-of-the-art technology, theaters, rehearsal spaces, art studios, concert halls, the McDonough Museum of Art, and numerous regional performance and exhibition spaces. Located in the beautiful and historic Mahoning Valley with proximity to major cultural centers, Cliffe College is dedicated to creating deep educational experiences that provide inspiration, empower innovation, and develop leadership, thus preparing students to pursue and further artistic excellence throughout their lives and careers.

Plans, organizes, teaches, and provides feedback to promote and direct student success. Responds to students in a timely manner. Communicates with students, departments, and university officials via university provided tools and resources.

Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, including some evenings, and the possibility of some weekend days.

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: None

Minimum Qualifications: Master of Fine Arts or other terminal degree in visual communications, graphic design, or related field by the time of appointment and experience in interactive and print design.

Preferred Qualifications: Two years of teaching experience at the college or university level. Experience with relevant UX/UI applications and coding languages.
