The Performing Arts Program Manager (PAPM) works with performing artists and arts organizations throughout Alabama, guiding them through the application process for three annual deadlines. The PAPM leads the evaluation process of requests, and then provides oversight for approximately 100 awarded grants each year. The biennial Celebration of Alabama Arts program is produced with the assistance from the Performing Arts Program Manager. Success in the PAPM role will require: • Knowledge of best practices for non-profit organizations. • Familiarity with performing art forms (dance, music, theatre) • Attention to details documented in forms. •A valid driver's license.
The Council offices are on the first floor of the RSA Tower in Montgomery. This is an in-person position requiring on site work in Montgomery, Alabama. State employment includes a robust retirement plan and health insurance.

Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in: o Art education, o Fine arts (dance, music, or theater/drama), o Arts administration or management, o or a closely related field.
• Two years of experience developing and managing work in a performing arts discipline for a city, county, state, arts center, school or university, arts facility, or similar organization.
Note: A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the fields listed above may substitute for one year of the required experience
