APAP believes that pay transparency is a critical step toward pay equity and benefits both the job seeker and the employer. For those reasons, we are now requiring that employers include a salary range in all new job postings.
Postings that are backfilled from another association’s career center may not include salary information.

We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and visionary Theater Arts Instructor/Director to lead and further develop our well-established and thriving theater program within a Christ-centered educational environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to nurture students’ God-given talents through the performing arts, while continuing the program’s tradition of excellence and shaping its future. The successful candidate will inspire young artists to glorify God through creativity, discipline, and collaboration, and will direct three high-quality theatrical productions each academic year.
The Theater Arts Instructor/Director works collaboratively with faculty, students, and families to cultivate a thriving theater program rooted in artistic integrity and MVC’s core values, supervised by our Principals and in partnership with our Executive Leadership Team. Our repertoire ranges from classical and Shakespearean works to Broadway musicals and contemporary plays—always selected through a thoughtful, faith-informed lens.
Responsibilities:
Direct and produce three annual High School productions (Fall, Winter, Spring) that reflect artistic excellence, creativity, and alignment with the school’s mission, as well as any annual Arts events (additional stipend available).
Teach multiple sections of theater (including but not limited to advanced DP theater), guiding students in developing acting, voice, movement, directing, dramaturgy, and play analysis.
Oversee production of a theatrical event featuring Middle School and Lower Grades students.
Provide leadership for and oversee annual trips for MVC’s extracurricular High School Thespian Honor Society and Middle School Junior Thespians Troupe.
Integrate biblical principles into classroom teaching and rehearsal processes, encouraging students to explore how the arts reflect truth, beauty, and God’s redemptive work throughout our world.
Oversee and manage production and classroom budgets and resources.
Mentor student-led projects and foster leadership, confidence, and creativity in student performers and crew.
Collaborate with technical staff to utilize the Don Price Performing Arts Chapel and James Bard Black Box theater to their fullest potential for both internal groups and outside rentals.
Oversee an annual five-day theater summer camp for Elementary and Middle School students as a means of promotion for the program and recruitment of future students.
Cultivate a joyful, inclusive environment that welcomes students of all experience levels and backgrounds.
Encourage servant leadership and Christ-like character both on and off the stage.
Qualifications:
A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a commitment to integrating faith with teaching and artistic practice.
Minimum of three years of high school teaching experience and/or significant experience directing dramatic and musical theater productions.
Bachelor’s degree in theater, performing arts, or a related field required; Master’s degree or professional theater experience preferred.
Demonstrated success directing productions with young performers and experience in a variety of theatrical genres, from classical to contemporary.
Strong organizational skills with experience in managing production schedules, budgets, and resources.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
A calling to invest in the spiritual, artistic, and personal growth of students in a Christian school community.
Additional Requirements:
- A portfolio or examples of past theater productions directed or produced
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and growth in the field of theater education.
