APAP believes that pay transparency is a critical step toward pay equity and benefits both the job seeker and the employer. For those reasons, we are now requiring that employers include a salary range in all new job postings.
Postings that are backfilled from another association’s career center may not include salary information.

Primary School Classroom Teacher (Full Time, grades 1 - 3)
Garden School
Application
Details

Location: JACKSON HEIGHTS, New York
Type: Full Time
Salary: $52,000 - $64,500
Garden School is excited to announce the opening of a Lower Division Classroom Teaching position for the fall of 2025. The position is focused on primary grades 1 - 3. Therefore, experience and expertise working with this age group as well as comfort with a range of texts, resources, and methodologies relevant to young students is required. Â
Garden School is an innovative and collaborative environment where teachers have smaller than usual rosters so they may focus on the interests and needs of bright and sophisticated individuals all of whom are college bound. Teaching faculty at Garden enjoy a great deal of autonomy in the material they cover in tandem with well-developed support structures to employ best practices in their discipline.
The Primary Team consists of four core teachers across three grades, a Reading Teacher, and a cadre of specialists who teach Mandarin, French, Visual Arts, Music & Performing Arts, Physical Education, Chess, Science, STEM, and more. The Team also is housed under a Dean who supports the Primary Team, and a Division Director who is responsible for children, teachers, and programs from Nursery through grade 6.Â
Garden School has a 100 year tradition of placing an emphasis on the importance of the early learning experience. We believe these first years of school are critical in the development of literacy, numeracy, curiosity, social emotional relationships, and skills, and that they contribute significantly to the foundations of a well rounded childhood experience.Â
At Garden School, Primary teachers enjoy small classes ranging from 10 - 15 students and are provided the time and autonomy to help children develop effective learning skills through a balance of traditional and creative approaches with an eye on responsiveness. Garden’s recently adopted strategic plan calls for growth in innovative programs that cross disciplines and challenge the notion of how students engage with learning.Â
An ideal candidate has experience teaching children in grades K- 4. They demonstrate passion for early adolescent learning and fostering student ownership of their space and program. They understand the importance of cultivating an inviting environment where students can explore and connect across disciplines, and they demonstrate a commitment for addressing the individual child in their instruction through innovative experiences in the classroom.Â
If you enjoy working with an innovative team, employing best-practice in the classroom, helping bright students achieve their potential, and seeing every child as an individual, then please forward your cover letter and resume to the attention of Mary Petruso at mpetruso@gardenschool.org
Salary Range: $52,000 - $64,500 commensurate with experienceÂ
