The State University of New York at Fredonia invites applications for a full-time lecturer in Ethnomusicology. This position requires demonstrated knowledge in multiple areas outside the Western concert music canon, including "art" musics from around the world and popular music. Core responsibilities include teaching electives for music majors that enhance and expand our current offerings, graduate seminars for our master's degree students, general education courses for our non-music-major population across campus, and independent study work with students interested in advanced study in musicology or ethnomusicology.
Versatility and comfort teaching as a "generalist" is highly prized. This is primarily a teaching position and will be best suited to someone whose professional goals place undergraduate teaching at the top of their personal priorities.
This full-time lectureship, starting Fall 2025, offers competitive salary and benefits, including participation in retirement plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Music Studies, the successful candidate will:
Teach undergraduate and graduate electives for music majors on a range of non-Western and popular music topics;
Contribute to curricular development and revision by creating new courses and adapting to the ongoing needs of our student body;
Support student retention and success through academic advising and efforts toward inclusion and belonging;
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, School of Music, university, and profession; and
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
This is a full-time, temporary, Lecturer position beginning Fall 2025 with an annual salary of $50,063-$53,000, commensurate with experience.
