Position Summary
Located in the East Asian Library within January Hall, this position is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the East Asian Library public services. Provides general circulation and information services for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean- language collections; carries out course reserve, interlibrary loan and document delivery services; oversees stacks maintenance; assists with hiring, training, and supervising student assistants; and performs physical processing of all types of library materials. Reports to the East Asian Studies Librarian. Upon need, temporarily works the service desk at other university libraries.
This position may include some evening and/or weekend hours on a prearranged schedule.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the daily operation of the library public services. Ensure the regular and timely opening and closing of the Library. Monitor the security of library property and the safety of users; report issues to supervisor. Monitor group study room and scheduling of the room.   Â
Responsible for all functions of the circulation desk and material reserves. Monitor course reserve system and track help desk interaction statistics. Provide interlibrary loan and document delivery services. Responsible for stacks maintenance.Â
Provide general reference and information services to library users. Assist users to use library services, materials, electronic resources, and equipment. Monitor departmental e-mail.
Assist with hiring, training, and supervising student assistants on circulation routines, shelving library materials, and stacks maintenance. Schedule student hours and monitor student budget.
Responsible for physical processing of all types of library materials, including receiving, checking in, claiming, binding, labeling, and related record keeping and use analysis.
Responsible for maintenance of public printer, computers and other equipment. Monitor and maintain office supplies inventory. Update relevant circulation, material processing procedure and student assistant manual.
Performs other duties as assigned.
