The Department of Theatre and Dance at the State University of New York at Fredonia invites applications for a full-time, one year (renewable) Lecturer in Lighting Design & Technology position to begin August 2025. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate B.F.A. and B.A. courses in Lighting Design and Technology as well as courses that support the entire department, depending on the candidate's teaching qualifications and abilities. The successful candidate will supervise and mentor students, and on occasion, when necessary, design and support lighting needs in productions within the department's mainstage season, support lighting needs for the Merrins Fall Chamber Concert, and Fredonia's annual Hillman Opera production. Preference may be given to candidates with professional Lighting Design experience and the ability to teach sound design/technology.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:
Teach courses in the department's Lighting Design / Technology rotation, Computer Drafting, and Intro to Performing Arts;
Mentor students on Lighting Design & Technology projects outside of class time and in production. When no students are assigned and the need arises, cover Lighting design duties for the Walter Gloor Mainstage Series;
Participate in the department's governing process by attending department meetings and serving on committees as assigned;
With Staff Lighting & Sound Supervisor, coordinate supervision of student crews with the installation and maintenance of theatrical lighting and sound systems for the department's Mainstage Productions, Merrins Fall Chamber Concert, and Hillman Opera;
Oversee all technical and equipment-related lighting issues within the Department of Theatre and Dance;
Approves purchases from Lighting and Sound Supervisor when applicable as it relates to class and production need;
Participate in student assessment through annual juries and other projects (Capstones);
Provide academic advisement to students;
Participate in recruitment and interviewing student applicants to the department;
Encourage a positive work environment and the achievement of high standards; and
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
This is a full-time, term appointed, Lecturer position beginning Fall 2025 at an annual salary of $50,063-$53,000, commensurate with experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MFA in Theatre Design or Theatre-related discipline from an accredited institution by August 2025;
University Teaching Experience;
Lighting Design and Technology Experience at the University and/or Professional level;
Professional experience and/or collegiate teaching experience with various software applications (Vectorworks, Photoshop, and organizational programs);
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of both the campus and department's mission.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Lighting Design or Lighting Technology credits with union affiliation;
Professional Sound Design or Sound Technology credits with union affiliation;
Secondary experience (Sound, Scenic, Technical Direction, Projections) at the University and/or Professional level;
Experience in Community Engagement in the Arts and/or Independent Theatre Production.
