Opportunity starting August 2025. Alta Vista Middle School is seeking a dynamic Music Teacher to lead the middle school music program.
Salary Range: $76,000 - $112,000

The Position: Middle School Music Teacher
Design and teach instrumental music classes to middle school students
Support the production of the Middle School Spring Musical
Serve as an advisor to a group of middle school students
Lead an after-school club one day a week
Plan, and organize weekly Community Meetings
Participate in field trips and an annual grade-level trip.
Design and maintain a vibrant classroom environment
Work cooperatively and collegially with the school’s administration, the faculty and staff, and the parents to create and maintain an exemplary school environment
Prepare for and actively participate in all school activities, faculty meetings, and conferences, including those with parents, during and after school hours as may be necessary
Cultivate collaboration, transparency, inclusion, curiosity, fun, innovation, and excellence in a dynamic learning community
Conduct dynamic and flexible instruction to address a variety of learning styles and interests
Reflect on teaching with a critical eye in order to continuously improve practice
Evaluate and give feedback on student progress regularly using standards-based assessment
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree; Master’s degree preferred
In-depth knowledge of music curricula and best teaching practices
Experience teaching music at the middle school and/or secondary school level
Familiarity with teaching in independent schools preferred
