Trinity School, a co-educational, K-12 institution located on the Upper West of Manhattan, seeks a Teacher of Theater Arts, Grades K-12 beginning September 2025. The Performing Arts Department is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Theater Arts Teacher to join its team to inspire students’ creativity and love for the performing arts. Serving students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, this role is perfect for a dynamic educator with a deep appreciation for theater, a passion for teaching, and a collaborative spirit. The ideal candidate will bring expertise, energy, and a commitment to fostering artistic growth in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Theater Arts (a Master’s degree is preferred);
At least five years of teaching experience in theater arts;
A comprehensive knowledge of theater history, dramatic literature, and various styles and techniques;
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities;
Skill at engaging a diverse range of learners and fostering their artistic growth; and
A proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Responsibilities include:
Developing and teaching a dynamic theater arts curriculum in grades K-4 while collaborating with classroom teachers to support their curricular goals;
Directing the 5/6 Musical and 7/8 Musicals;
Teach beginning theater skills class to students in Grades 7/8;Â
Overseeing or assisting with plays and musical theater productions, including repertoire selection, directing, casting, scheduling rehearsals, coaching performers, and coordinating with technical staff;
Instructing students in theater fundamentals, including voice and projection, movement, improvisation, character development, and acting methodology;
Creating a supportive classroom environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and respect.
Collaborating with colleagues to integrate theater arts into interdisciplinary projects;
Maintaining accurate records of student progress and communicating effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Staying up-to-date on theater education trends and incorporate innovative methods into teaching.
Additional Requirements:
A portfolio or examples of past theater productions;
A willingness to participate in our school culture; and
A commitment to professional development in theater education.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
