The Department of Theatre & Dance in the School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre to begin on August 19, 2025.
The Department of Theatre & Dance provides a unique liberal arts educational experience where students critically investigate the world through creative processes and engage across difference.
We seek a collaborative scholar-artist who shares our commitment to highly effective teaching at all levels of the curriculum and who is passionate about equipping students with the skills to think and act creatively in an ever-changing and increasingly challenging local and global reality. The successful candidate will teach three courses in the fall semester and three courses in the spring semester, which may include but are not limited to Performing Diversity, Classical Theatre, Modern and Contemporary Theatre History, and Basics of Acting, as well as courses in their specific area of expertise. We welcome applications from candidates who engage a range of critical perspectives, who will complement the department's strengths at the crossroads of theatre, dance, and social justice, and contribute to its ongoing efforts to foster inclusive, equitable, and student-centered learning environments.
An M.F.A. or Ph.D. in theatre is required by the time of appointment. Prior experience teaching at the college level is preferred.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
