Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and talented educator to teach science with a focus in Upper School but the possibility for some Middle School teaching. The most desirable candidates will be able to teach Biology with teaching ability and interest in additional scientific fields such as Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, and/or Physics. There is also the possibility that this position may include an opportunity for departmental leadership. Science teachers at Laurel create a rich, inquiry-based, learning environment for their students and include lab work, discussions and research projects among their assessment methods. They work collaboratively with other STEM teachers and are enthusiastic about developing and delivering effective lessons that differentiate instruction to a diverse group of learners.Â
Duties and responsibilities will  include:
Preparation and implementation of daily lessonsÂ
Design, implementation, and timely evaluation of appropriate, authentic formative and summative assessmentÂ
Timely and proactive communication with student, parents, advisor about student progress
Advising of a small group of studentsÂ
Collaboration with other members of the faculty, administration, and staff on experiential, interdisciplinary and community-based opportunities that add to the school community
Active participation in all faculty and staff meetingsÂ
Support of divisional and school-wide initiatives through committee work, where appropriateÂ
Supervision and/or participation in non-academic activities, including lunch, study halls, dances, class trips, etcÂ
The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor of Sciences or graduate degree in a scientific field, Engineering or related field. Prior experience teaching in an upper school setting is an asset. Candidates for Laurel teaching positions should be enthusiastic about pedagogy, particularly inquiry-based approaches and differentiated implementation that is best suited to a variety of learners. Successful candidates will possess a positive attitude, excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational skills, and proven success within a work setting that requires collaboration, cooperation, and collegiality. The candidate must possess or acquire and maintain a State of Ohio issued teaching certificate. The school welcomes the opportunity to continue to find ways to diversify our faculty.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
