Fenimore Chamber Orchestra, headquartered in historic Cooperstown, New York, is seeking a part-time Executive Director who will work closely with the Governing Board and Artistic Director to realize the mission and vision of the organization. The Executive Director will be responsible for operations, marketing, development, and supporting the work of the Board and Artistic Director. The Executive Director reports to the Governing Board.
Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to manage and grow a non-profit organization. The individual should be comfortable managing multiple projects, tasks, and priorities in all areas of the organization, exhibiting a strong commitment to collaboration.
Overview of Responsibilities
Provide effective management of the day-to-day operations of the organization
Spearhead fundraising, communications, marketing, and community outreach
Work with the staff and volunteers for each concert venue to ensure appropriate setup and security for the musicians, instruments, and other equipment
Propose and monitor annual operations budget
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Work closely with the Orchestra Personnel Manager to ensure compliance with all provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the musicians’ union
Participate ex officio (non-voting) in meetings of the Governing Board
Submit monthly Operations Reports for meetings of the Governing Board
Other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this position
Qualifications
At least five years of leadership experience, preferably with a performing arts organization, music festival, or concert series, including the overall management of operations and budget
Experience working with a non-profit board of directors
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with the Artistic Director, Governing Board, musicians, staff, volunteers, and community partners
Outstanding management, development, and marketing skills
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written; comfortable making presentations and in social settings with donors and community partners
Knowledge of arts marketing and social media platforms
Working knowledge of budgeting and financial management
Familiarity with basic office programs (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations) and willingness to learn additional computer skills as needed
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends during the concert season
Familiarity with classical music repertoire and instrumentation
Compensation
Annual compensation $23,400 per year for an anticipated average of 15 hours per week. Two weeks’ paid vacation per year.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
