The Ohio State Universitys Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts, within the College Arts and Sciences, is committed to excellence and advancement of the performing arts. The Theatre Senior Academic Program Services Specialist primarily supports the graduate and undergraduate programs in Theatre, provides curriculum and assessment support services to faculty and students for these same programs, and acts as the primary scheduling contact for courses offered in the Department of Theatre, Film, and Media Arts.
The Theatre Senior Academic Program Services Specialist provides program support for the Theatre BA, MA, MFA, and PhD, minors, and non-major programs in Theatre; prepares annual orientation sessions and onboarding information for current and incoming graduate students in Theatre; assists and provides data to the Graduate Studies Director to advise students and faculty on Graduate School procedures and policy interpretation; monitors obstacles to student progress and assists in problem resolution with the department chair and advising faculty; facilitates fellowship nomination process for current graduate students; coordinates Master's exams, Candidacy exams, and PhD defenses for department graduate students;; annually updates departmental graduate handbook and other informational resources; attends department and university graduate program meetings; assists the Business Operations Manager in advertising and facilitating scholarship and graduate funding request processes and awards; collaborates with Arts and Sciences Academic Advising to provide consistent and accurate program and curricular information to undergraduate Theatre majors and minors; partners with Exploration and Honors Advisors and the ASC Center for Career and Professional Success for theatre-related programs; responds to current and prospective student program information inquiries, and maintains program messaging for web, print, email; counsels undergraduate students on academic and career development opportunities; provides statistics and reports to department leadership regarding department course schedule and enrollment; and partners with the Film Academic Program Services Specialist to collect and track department course syllabi, prepare and distribute teaching evaluation information, and manage narrative course evaluations provides support to the Department Chair, Director of Undergraduate Studies, Director of Graduate Studies, and Theatre Undergraduate Area Head, and administrative support for related committees.
The Theatre Senior Academic Program Services Specialist serves as the departments curricular and assessment contact to the College, University, and Graduate School for Theatre programs; maintains student files, statistics, and databases related to curriculum; maintains major/minor advising guides as part of curricular revisions and updates; advises faculty on university policies and procedures related to curriculum, instruction, and enrollment in courses upon request; partners with department faculty and academic advising to facilitate curricular advising for students; provides data for faculty curricular proposals, and coordinates and submits course change requests, new course proposals, and course or program curriculum change proposals; routes transfer credit coordination, OGTP approvals, campus change pathway information, student grievances, course petitions, and course concurrence requests to appropriate contacts in faculty, advising, and committee groups; collects program, course, and GE assessment data and materials from instructors and drafts and submits annual program assessment reports in consultation with department faculty; summarizes annual assessment findings for distribution to Undergraduate Studies and area committees; and provides theatre curriculum information to students and other Ohio State departments upon request.
The Theatre Senior Academic Program Services Specialist prepares and maintains the department course schedule in the Student Information System (SIS); collects, analyzes, and reports on data related to student curricular choices, enrollment, course demand (SIS, SSRS); works with faculty, chair, and stakeholders to develop scheduling plan each academic year; collects teaching preference surveys from faculty, lecturers, and graduate teaching associates, as part of annual/semester scheduling process; works to coordinate teaching assignments for regular faculty, associated faculty, and graduate teaching associates based on information provided by the Chair, faculty, and course supervisors; coordinates corresponding department-held academic-use spaces; anticipates and identifies scheduling discrepancies and issues and informs Chair and faculty; attends Registrar meetings regarding course scheduling and enrollment processes; creates semester Theatre course offering booklets for distribution and posting, compiles and submits Registrar Finals Determination list for exam week classroom needs; maintains lecturer pool inquiries and provides instructor information and SHIFT lecturer job descriptions to Business Operations Manager to facilitate efficient hiring and termination processes; and oversees new lecturer teaching resources, and annual lecturer and Theatre GTA review schedule. This position provides backup coverage to the Film Senior Academic Program Services Specialist as needed.
Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 4 years of relevant experience in academic program planning and administration. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
Desired Education and Experience Master's Degree or higher in relevant field and 6 or more years of experience in advising and supervisory experience. Previous experience and expertise Nuventive Improve or a similar assessment reporting system. Previous experience working in the performing arts or arts administration. Previous experience working with curriculum.osu.edu and curricular processes. Previous working knowledge of rules and policies in a higher education setting. The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective customer service skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and think critically, demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independent leader and remain focused under pressure.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;

You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
