The School of Drama within the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University invites applicants for a full-time teaching-track faculty position in Dance at the assistant or associate professor rank to join our BFA Acting/Music Theater program.
This position is Pittsburgh-based and begins August 2025. Base salary is $70,000 to $75,000 plus a full benefits package based on rank and commensurate experience.
We are seeking a candidate who can exhibit experience in relationship-building with those they teach in order to promote growth and learning. Individuals with an ability to apply their professional experiences to a teaching setting with an active practice or history of a recent active practice are strongly desired.
The School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University values candidates who exemplify a commitment towards building a more inclusive community which includes a vast array of identities and approaches to increased belonging who can utilize their experiences to increase the capacity of such practices.In addition to teaching, our faculty engage in other duties such as:
Mentoring, coaching, and advising on productions
Administrative service including School, College and/or University level committees
Maintaining and advancing professional practices
Candidates should hold either a degree in dance or have equivalent professional experience and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence.
The ideal candidate will have three years? teaching experience in a higher education setting or equivalent experience leading workshops, master classes, or residencies with university-level students and professionals.
This position requires the teaching of Ballet Technique at various levels and the ability to teach Tap.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
